These codes delineate quite different personality configurations in the three classes. Among the boys, the upper class has a code in which Pt is prominent along with Ma, a fact which suggests a certain compulsiveness and rigidity as well as energetic tendencies. It may be noted that the energy component is less closely associated with the unconventionality of Pd than in the middle and lower classes. In the middle class boys’ code, Ma is dominant and D is comparatively high. This configuration appears to denote an energetic and slightly dissatisfied personality profile. The lower class code is characterized by the prominence of Pd and Sc, in addition to Ma. This combination suggests unsociable or deviant tendencies in conjunction with a withdrawal from, or perhaps a failure successfully to enter, conventional social activities.
